US Army is exploring to put their 'eyes' beneath the sea

The utilization of drones technology has recently been getting great interest which can be caused by recent news that discussed about Amazon's ambition to use unmanned drones as their delivery fleets. It sounds like this type of fictional concept and the immense awareness the topic is getting doesn't surprise me. Writers and technology experts have little doubt this technology will end up a reality 1 day and it's not a matter of if but when. Several questions remain unanswered however it is human nature that creates most of the difficulty and not the technology itself. To fuel the discussion further, it seems that we are not simply talking about the air though. The utilization of sea drones by US Navy has been making waves within the geek community. The Amazon drone idea has attracted its fair share of controversy and excitement and so does the ocean drone idea. As always, military use appears to be the first beneficiary of any new technology and it is evident from their already on-going attempt to use the sea depth for their military advantage. While a lot of the data remains highly-classified at this point of time, science enthusiasts have already been quick to extrapolate about what the possibility might hold.Military intelligence gathering will definitely be one of the primary beneficiary of such technology. Speaking of military intelligence, it's one area of application that may encompass anything beneath the sun. Enemy surveillance is one form of intelligence information which can be gathered by these ocean drones. But with millions of different kind of marine organisms of different shapes roaming across the ocean, it might take many many years before enemy detection may be made reliably. Nevertheless the more interesting use could be to collect the terrestrial layout of the enemy territory. When they have all of the information on hand, you could be surprised on the kind of uses the collected information can be utilized for.Navigation aid is one cool use of the ocean drone technology that's been discussed by many science enthusiasts. Do you still remember how the US Navy SEAL managed to secretly enter the hiding place of the world's most wanted man, Bin Laden?I cannot be sure if it is really the case but there were reports indicating that the SEAL teams might swim across oceans if that proves to be the safest way of reaching the enemy target. The sea drones can be used to collect information about the water conditions like the wave direction, speed and etc. With the availability of such information, the journey time can certainly be reduced significantly and so does the risk. The drone idea is one which always fascinates me as a science geek. But obviously, you may still find huge gaps to be filled and millions of questions to be addressed before we ever see all these ideas adopted into reality. I always love the suggestion of getting my parcel in the shortest possible time and if I can get it in an hour at minimal cost, I'd definitely go for it. While I am not a big fan of the sea, I believe it is an integral part of our planet that holds many secrets that are just waiting to be discovered and the use of sea drone moves us one step closer to unveiling what might be Nature's greatest secrets.
